Along with a number of governing bodies around the world not overly interested in Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Google also decided to do its bit in an attempt to block the acquisition by expressing its dissatisfaction.
As it turns out, Google also has some concerns about the acquisition. While the report says that Google’s concerns are not to the same extent as Sony’s, they are quite similar in nature: Google fears games on its ChromeOS platform will suffer if Microsoft successfully acquires Activision Blizard.
Google’s main argument is that the idea of playing games via Game Pass on a system running Google’s ChromeOS was intentionally degraded by Microsoft.
Giving credit to Microsoft, it should be noted that the company seems to be working on improving the Game Pass experience through its xCloud streaming service not only on ChromeOS, but also on Linux platforms, despite the fact that both operating systems are serious competitors to Windows.
