With the 13th generation Core processors (Raptor Lake-S), Intel has managed to significantly increase clock speeds. The flagship “stone” Core i9-13900K is capable of overclocking up to 5.8 GHz in Turbo Boost mode, while its direct predecessor Core i9-12900K conquered a maximum of 5.2 GHz, and in early 2023 the chipmaker plans to release the Core i9-13900KS with 6.0 GHz out of the box.
The frequency potential of the Raptor Lake-S CPU when using extreme types of cooling also turned out to be large. For example, the American sports overclocking guru Allen “Splave” Jolibersach managed to “fire up” the new flagship of the LGA1700 platform to a frequency of 8.2 GHz.
